MS “Patrick” and MS “Zenit” are our
first two member ships to receive the Green Award in GOLD.
We have made a start!
Ms Jana Benli has resumed her maiden name, and will officially be known as Jana Stenzel from 13 April 2023.
We are delighted to announce that we have appointed our Hamburg-based colleague SASCHA SCHARNOW as an authorised signatory on 1 April 2023. We congratulate him on this promotion, and wish him all the best and much success in his new role!
Since our long-standing colleague Gert Werlich is
beginning his well-earned retirement after almost exactly 36 years with the
company, we will be closing our branch in Minden on 24 March 2023.
We would like to thank Gert Werlich for his
loyalty and reliability, and wish him all the best for
the future and plenty of time to spend with his family.
The entire region managed by the Minden branch will now be supported by the
Hamburg branch, specifically by Mr Sascha Scharnow:

According to trustworthy sources, he
began his career in inland shipping with WTAG (Westfälische Transport AG).
From there, he switched to Eil+Fracht in Berlin. He then moved to Hamburg in
the 1950s.
In the mid-1960s, when Elbia Eilfracht was founded, Werner Hartnagel was
appointed as a member of the executive board.
After the merger between Elbia Eilfracht and the then Berlin-based TGB in 1987,
forming TRANSPORT-GENOSSENSCHAFT BINNENSCHIFFFAHRT eG, he was appointed to the
executive board once more. Since he was already 64 years of age at this time,
it was decided that he would remain a board member until 1991, when he turned
68.
During this time, he pursued, inter alia, the merger between TGB and PTG in
1990 to form the DTG eG that we know today. After this milestone was set and he
knew that the continued work of the cooperative was in good hands, he was able
in 1991 to wind up his contractual obligations, and begin his well-earned
retirement.
During his active time as a board member and head of the branch in Hamburg, he
was an extremely precise and dedicated businessman. He never wanted to be
dependent on others, consistently strived to manage his own cargo, and
concluded direct contacts beneficial to the cooperative. He was also active in
the Bundesverband der Deutschen Binnenschifffahrt e.V., and was always
available to advise and assist its members.
He is still interested in the developments in inland shipping today. Up until a
few years ago, he regularly attended the annual general meeting of the cooperatives,
by which he always shared his personal experiences.
Werner Hartnagel will celebrate his 100th birthday on 11 March 2023. We owe him
tremendous respect and hope he has a wonderful anniversary among his nearest
and dearest, including to this day his former supervisory board chairman.
On 2 January 2023, we welcomed out new colleague,
Ms Stefanie Schäfer, to DTG eG.
She will support our accounting and member support team.
Since she herself comes from an inland shipping background, she will quickly
adapt to her new field of responsibilities.
