STL in Kalkar:
we were of course present again in 2024
– at stand 103 - as always! This year too, the only trade fair for inland
shipping in Germany gave us the opportunity to maintain and establish personal
contacts in mechanical engineering, shipyards, and other services related to
inland shipping. Our stand was a popular point of contact not only for DTG
members, but also for many other inland shipping enthusiasts. For the first
time, we were able to present our image films.
In a
presentation, we took the opportunity to show the development of inland
shipping over the last 20 years, the status quo and insights into the future.
We’ll be back again in 2025…
We are delighted to announce that our colleague in Magdeburg, Jacqueline Kurth, got married on 4 May 2024 and is now known as Jacqueline Becker. We wish her and her husband all the best!
Shortly after his 101st birthday, Werner Hartnagel passed away peacefully in his sleep on 25 March 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. As a former member of the TGB board, Werner Hartnagel played a key role in the merger between PTG and TGB to form the DTG that we know today. We will cherish our fond memories of him.
DTG is
delighted to announce that Andreas Grzib will take on the responsibility of
Head of Sales on 1 May 2024 as an authorised signatory for the company. In
addition, Matthias Bunger, who is currently on the executive board of DTG
together with Roberto Spranzi, will begin his well-deserved retirement on 30
June 2025. From then on, Andreas Grzib will succeed him as a member of the
executive board. This early-stage succession plan is an expression of DTG’s
efforts to ensure continuity and stability.
Andreas Grzib is 57 years of age, a trained logistics specialist and graduate
economist, and has many years of experience in various middle and top
management positions in well-known shipping and logistics companies such as
Lehnkering, Imperial and HTAG Häfen und Transport AG. Most recently, he was
managing director of neska Schifffahrts- und Speditionskontor GmbH, which he
left of his own accord in 2023.
The DTG executive board emphasises that: “We are sure that Andreas Grzib, with
his experience as logistics specialist with a strong mind for sales, his
specialist knowledge and leadership competence, will make a valuable
contribution to the successful development of our company. With his excellent
knowledge of the market, he will strengthen customer relationships and open up
new areas of business for us. The DTG team and our member organisations are
looking forward to working with him.”
For more information, the DTG executive board are happy to assist.

The adherence
to climate targets in particular is leading to changes in classic cargoes such as fossil fuels. This
may mean that new cargoes will play a big role in the future. SPC is addressing
this issue, for instance, with the forums relating to bulk cargo and bulky and
heavy goods transport, or the group of practitioners in the LogiWind project,
at the table we share, under the SPC umbrella, with large and leading plant
manufacturers in the wind energy sector.
These worthwhile activities prompted us to join the project on 1 March 2024. We
wish to proactively tackle the upcoming changes. As a cooperative and together
with strong networks such as the SPC.

To combat the shortage of skilled workers in inland
shipping, specialist department
WS 21 at the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV), which is
responsible for
supporting further education and training in inland shipping, in 2023 launched,
among other things, the
first video blog competition together with the
inland shipping associations BDB and BDS.
We are pleased to announce that Hendrik van Aswege, son of our member Martin
Michael van Aswege (MS “Annegret”), won this first video
blog competition.
With his targeted marketing in the form of lucrative posts and videos on
social media, Hendrik gives a wide audience some insight into his life and work
, and consistently tries to spark enthusiasm for
inland shipping among young people.
“Do your best in your training. It is the best time of your life, and we have
one of the finest occupations in the world.” he said during the award ceremony on the Schulschiff
Rhein training vessel on 7 February 2024.
Congratulations also go to the participants in second and third place, and we
would like to thank everyone for their generous support.
We are delighted about the dedication of the young inland shippers and the
trainees themselves, and hope that this format will continue in the coming
weeks.
