In all actions of the Supervisory Board, the Executive Board, the members and all the employees who work for DTG Deutsche Transport-Genossenschaft Binnenschifffahrt eG (German Cooperative Association for Inland Waterway Transport), people always take centre stage.
We treat the people at companies with whom we have business-related contact and the people within our organisation with respect, fairness, appreciation and partnership. It goes without saying that everyone is treated equally, regardless of their race, ethnic origins, gender, religion, ideology, sexual orientation, possible disability or age.
We agree that criticism is always welcome. However, such criticism should be constructive and expressed promptly and with due respect.
We uphold the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany and comply with all laws applicable to our business activities; we also support the principles of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact and the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The Executive Board is responsible for the implementation of this Code of Conduct. In this context, it is supported by both the Supervisory Board and the members, who are the owners of DTG.
Our members' inland waterway vessels are regularly inspected in terms of safety and occupational health and safety. This ensures compliance with the applicable health and safety regulations and helps prevent accidents. For this purpose, we have also appointed a Safety Officer at DTG.
In joining our cooperative association, the members of DTG undertake to comply with the principles that are contained in the Articles of Association and the legal requirements. They are kept up to date with regular information and newsletters.
The Quality Manager of DTG monitors the standards that are stipulated in our certifications according to the DIN ISO 9001 and GMP+ (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards. He coordinates the meetings with the respective auditors from the external certification companies and carries out regular internal audits.
As a registered cooperative association, we fulfil our requirement to have the compliance of our accounting to standards, our financial situation and the proper conduct of our executive management audited by a cooperative auditing association.
Although we are not subject to the legal requirements of the German Supply Chain Act (LkSG) due to the size of our organisation and the number of people employed at DTG, we always respect human rights. Equal treatment, social responsibility, help for those in need of protection, occupational health and safety, and the renunciation of child and forced labour are as much a part of the philosophy of DTG as the right to freedom of expression.
Bribery, money laundering and corruption have no place at DTG. It also goes without saying that we have a statutory external Data Protection Officer.
The remuneration of our employees is in line with the standard market practice. We do not pay less than the statutory minimum wage. We comply with the applicable local laws regarding working hours, rest periods, breaks and paid holidays.
DTG makes a contribution to environmentally friendly conduct as far as possible. In our offices, we use environmentally friendly work equipment wherever possible. A solar power system on the roof of our office building not only supplies our offices with green electricity, but also, via wall boxes, our vehicle fleet, which increasingly consists of hybrid and electric vehicles. To make their inland waterway vessels more environmentally friendly, the operational members of DTG invest in ecologically sound equipment as far as their financial resources allow them to do so.
